Stuck on 16

I've been at the 16 pound mark now for a couple of weeks. Not sure what is going on here! Can't seem to get that extra pound and start again.

I must admit, I did get soooooo hungry for cherry pie, I bought a half a pie....and yes, ended up eating the whole thing. Yikes. But, I got it out of my system. D-Dog and I are walking again, hopefully a bit every day. Today was wonderful for a walk, since it was cool and sunny. Perfect walking weather.

I haven't seen any posts from you!!! I need encouragement! You keep up at the gym!

Ten....OK!!

Now, if I can just keep this up. Hopefully, by next week I'll be able to start my walking again. Between my ankle and my back, August was NOT my month.

I'm not really dieting; I'm more or less just eating when I'm hungry. I am concentrating on fruits, veggies, yogurt and the like. So, sometimes I end up with 5 or 6 small meals and not two or three big ones. I'm also downing the Diet Coke and Crystal Light, so I'm getting lots of fluids. I try to eat nothing at all, after my last meal of the day. I think that is really helping.

Stick with the gym, Daughter! I know you will see an improvement!

Still Working on my Fitness

So I joined a gym... it's very close to the house and the people are super-nice and encouraging. I'm able to go and workout for a bit on my lunch break.

Today, I did the elliptical and it kicked my butt - ugh, but I guess that's a good thing.

They do have free classes so once I get a yoga mat, I'll probably start doing yoga once or twice a week!

Fruits and Veggies

I've really been trying to hit the fruits and veggies, which is nice because watermelon and cantalope are great now. I'm also really trying to limit the carbs. I haven't had chocolate for three weeks now! I'm up to six pounds, but I think that is mostly water and now the real challenge begins. The ankle is all better, so, I'll start my walking again.

My Olympic Diet...

http://www.nypost.com/seven/08132008/news/nationalnews/phelps_pig_secret__hes_boy_gorge_124248.htm

OK - now here is one diet I could get on. However, I don't think I'd end up looking as buff as Michael Phelps.

I have been walking a bit with my pedometer. I can usually get about 3/4 mile in wal-mart, and I do try to get out for 1.5 to 2 miles a few times a week. Now that the weather is cooling down a bit (The "cat" days of August, I guess) I can get out more.

Time to get moving again!

I've had too many good books from the library lately, I haven't been out walking much. I guess I could get some books on CD for my ipod. The weather has been very hot in the afternoon when I have time to go. Tomorrow, I'm going to try to get up before Chad goes to work and walk for about 2 miles. If that doesn't work, I'm getting Izzy out of bed and taking her for a long bike ride in the morning! I need to get moving!

I need some good healthy recipes! We are cooking at home a lot more lately and something other than "meat and potatoes" is needed. Plus, I need to cut back on the fatty, fried foods so that when we hit the State Fair next week, I won't feel too bad about all of the junk food!

Mom - I hope you are doing better than I am this week :)

Snack Shack

I've been working on the snack attack. Actually, it's going fairly well since watermelon and cantalope is in season. Keeping the fridge stocked with the fruits is a help. Off to Green Farms again today. I'm allowing myself one Skinny Minny fudge pop after 9:00 pm. (I love those things!!! and only 50 calories.) Still working on portion control here.

Buttox Humiliation...

Well, there they are for the whole world to see! I can only say...yikes!

I did my two miles tonight (notice the neat weekly walk-o-meter I managed to add all by myself!) I will have to change my strategy, however. My plan was to do a mile and half, swing by the house and pick D-Dog up for the rest. He knows as soon as I get my shoes, it's time for a walk. I left for my faster-paced walk, and apparently he just went from door to door crying and whining. So, tomorrow, I will take him first, drop him off and continue onward. We'll see how that goes. Really, really trying to portion control discipline. My worst time is between 9 and 10 at night.

Buns on a roll...

Again, following the theory that public humiliation is a good motivator for an action, here's hoping that when we reach our goals that our butts will be smaller!

Work it! Work it!

You're On...

Well, Daughter

Ten miles is a good challenge for this week. I was going to wait until Monday to start, but today is as good as any. D-Dog can use the exercise too!

I think it's nice to do something together for a change, since we haven't had the opportunity since you moved...and moved...and moved...and, well, you get the picture!

Actually, I haven't been motivated in awhile; not sure what the problem is. I think retirement is making me a bit complacent, so I'm glad for the opportunity.

As soon as I figure out the little ticker thing, I'll add mine.

Entry 1 - Wish us luck

Nothing like going public as a motivator.

This blog will serve as a tracker as mom and I get prepared for a family wedding. We have until May 16th to get fit. Well, probably a bit earlier than that if you count dress fittings, but at least it's easier to take in a dress than let it out!

I'm not above issuing a challenge to my mom... I say I can walk 10 miles in the next 7 days. Can you do more?
